The spokesman for the VOX Parliamentary Group in Andalusia, Manuel Gavira, warned on Tuesday, in statements to the media after his visit to the Málaga municipality of Manilva, where he met a group of residents, that the serious problems of “insecurity and crime, as a result of drug trafficking, squatting and illegal immigration” that the municipality has suffered for months are a consequence of “the policies of the left that the Partido Popular embraces”.
Gavira, who has denounced “the fear that they have conveyed to us” from residents, stressed that “we politicians were not voted in so that we would consent to, allow and shelter crime and insecurity”, and called on both the Government and the Junta to act, saying that “it is time to become aware of the problem of insecurity and crime that exists here”. “A place that used to be safe and quiet”, as Gavira put it, has become somewhere “where people now are afraid”.

As the VOX spokesman in Andalusia argued, “illegal immigration and squatting have the same answer and the same solution”, which is to guarantee residents, not only in Manilva but throughout Andalusia, that “whoever squats, out on the street quickly, and whoever enters our land illegally, out of Spain quickly”. “Those are the answers and the position of VOX on problems such as those occurring in Manilva”, he added.
The VOX parliamentary spokesman thanked the State Security Forces for their enormous work in the fight against crime and immigration, in the face of which “they do what they can”, but he insisted that “they need more support and more resources, not only material but also personnel” in order to guarantee the safety of citizens.
At VOX, “we are going to keep proposing solutions to the problems faced by Andalusians, people in Málaga and the residents of Manilva” and “we are going to work to carry out and present all the initiatives necessary so that these problems are solved once and for all”, concluded Manuel Gavira.
