Manilva wins the Sendero Azul award

-

The municipality of Manilva has been recognised with the Sendero Azul award, presented by the Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor (Association for Environmental and Consumer Education). This recognition highlights the exceptional work carried out on the «Sendero Playas de Manilva» trail, making it a national benchmark in the conservation and promotion of natural heritage.

Environment department councillor Noelia Muñoz has expressed her satisfaction at this achievement, which confirms the Town Hall’s commitment to protecting and showcasing its natural surroundings. «The Sendero Azul is much more than a simple recognition; it is the result of constant, coordinated work to offer our residents and visitors a high-quality natural space where they can enjoy nature in a sustainable way,» the councillor said.

What does the Sendero Azul mean?

The Sendero Azul programme, present in 127 municipalities across the country, recognises and rewards trails that meet rigorous criteria for the conservation, management and promotion of natural and cultural heritage. This award highlights the commitment of municipalities to restoring and showcasing these spaces, turning them into valuable resources for environmental education and the enjoyment of nature.

To obtain the Sendero Azul, the «Sendero Playas de Manilva» has passed a thorough evaluation in several categories, such as the characteristics of the trail, signposting, conservation of the surroundings and sustainable public use.

A commitment to the environment

With this recognition, Manilva is consolidating its position as a sustainable tourist destination, where protecting the environment and promoting responsible tourism are priorities. The Sendero Azul is an example of how it is possible to reconcile economic development with nature conservation.
