Manilva to remain perimeter-closed for another week

Despite the fall in the active incidence rate in recent days, which had raised some hope of reaching the figures set by the Junta de Andalucía for easing restrictions and lifting the perimeter closure currently in force in the municipality, the 15 new positive cases published today have pushed the active incidence rate over the last 14 days up again.

This afternoon, Thursday, the provincial committee of experts will meet again. It analyses the incidence rate in each town every week in order to adjust its restrictions, and Manilva was the only municipality on the Costa del Sol to see its active incidence rise today, to 638.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. This takes it further away from the 500 the experts require before easing restrictions such as the perimeter closure of the municipality.

After several days of a downward trend, the Regional Ministry of Health and Families (Consejería de Salud y Familias), in collaboration with the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia, has published today’s data for Thursday 18 February, showing 15 new positive cases and 10 recoveries. The number of active cases over the last 14 days therefore rises to 105, and the active incidence rate over the last 14 days goes up from 608.3 to 638.7 (cases per 100,000 inhabitants). The total number of confirmed cases in Manilva since the start of the pandemic now stands at 828 people, with 15 deaths.

As for the cumulative incidence rate over the last 7 days, it falls, from 225.07 to 182.49 (positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants).

As of today, Thursday 18 February, the active cases over the last 14 days are as follows:

* Manilva: 105 cases (5 more)
* Estepona: 533 cases (28 fewer)
* San Roque: 83 cases (23 fewer)
* Castellar: 19 cases (1 more)
* Los Barrios: 66 cases (7 fewer)
* La Línea: 157 cases (15 fewer)
* Algeciras: 677 cases (37 fewer)
* Benahavís: 23 cases (1 fewer)
* Marbella: 982 cases (57 fewer)
* Casares: 29 cases (4 fewer)

This newsroom has produced a chart showing the total positive cases since the start of the pandemic, the details for the last 14 days and recoveries, which we update from Monday to Friday and which we have included in our «Coronavirus Special.»
