With 8 March approaching, International Women’s Day, and in honour of the date, the department run by Gema Zotano, in collaboration with the Diputación de Málaga, has promoted an initiative to recognise a Woman of the Year.
In Manilva, both the mayor, José Manuel Fernández, and the aforementioned councillor chose to trust local residents through a public consultation to select the deserving recipient of this honour in our town.
The name that came up most among the proposals was that of Ana Santos, president of the asociación Luisana, who has been actively prominent in promoting equality for decades.
The Women’s department of Manilva Town Hall has sent the local candidate’s details to the Diputación, and the supra-municipal body will shortly announce its decision from among the various proposals of women influential in the field of equality in our province.
