Manilva presses for improved healthcare in the town

Nueva reunión con el delegado territorial de Salud, Carlos Bautista

-

The Health councillor of Manilva Town Hall, Juan Carlos Morejón, has met in Málaga with the territorial health delegate of the Junta de Andalucía, Carlos Bautista, to discuss the municipality’s healthcare needs.

The meeting focused mainly on the health centres in Manilva and Sabinillas, with the aim of exploring possible improvements both in public service and in the overall quality of care. Councillor Morejón relayed to the delegate the concerns and demands of local residents regarding healthcare.

We recall that Carlos Bautista himself visited Manilva during the election period, taking part in a rally for the current mayor at which he promised to set up an emergency service and provide ambulances for the town. Also, on 20 February 2024, the same Carlos Bautista visited the town and stated in a press release that they were «seeking a solution to the shortage of professionals at the health centres in Manilva and Sabinillas», a situation that a year later has changed «very little, very little indeed».

Although the information provided by the Town Hall does not detail any specific progress or commitments reached during the meeting, the Health councillor’s visit to the territorial delegate shows that municipal efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and services in Manilva are continuing.

Residents anxiously and desperately hope that this meeting will at least be a step forward in making the promises given during the election campaign a reality, and that the need for an emergency service and for improvements to the town’s health centres will finally be met.
