Manilva moves down to level 2 but provincial lockdown remains in place

The Malaga Territorial Committee for High-Impact Public Health Alerts met online this Thursday 18 March, chaired by the territorial delegate for Health and Families, Carlos Bautista, to analyse the epidemiological data on the incidence of COVID-19 in the province. Among other decisions, it has established that the municipalities in the Costa del Sol health district, which includes Manilva, and Serranía will move down to level 2.

Likewise, the only two municipalities that will remain under perimeter closure from this Friday are Colmenar and Gaucín, as they exceed 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over two weeks. Specifically, Colmenar recorded a rate of 762.7 this Thursday and Gaucín 692.3.

The territorial committee has resolved to revoke the resolutions currently in force and to assess all municipalities according to the incidence rate updated as of this Thursday. The measures will remain in force for seven days after their publication in the BOJA (Andalusian official gazette), from 00:00 on Friday 19 March.

Meanwhile, the Serranía and Costa del Sol health districts, which were at level 3 grade 1, meaning that non-essential activity closed at 18:00, move to level 2. Therefore, as in the rest of the health districts, and following the Junta’s announcement, shops and hospitality venues will close at 22:30.

The territorial committees for High-Impact Public Health Alerts continuously monitor the epidemiological situation in their provinces and advise on the need to maintain or adjust alert levels and grades according to health risk and the proportionality of the measures. They meet every Thursday to assess the situation in the municipalities.

The Costa del Sol health district has a rate of 123.9. It includes the towns of Benahavís (with a rate of 167.8 per 100,000 inhabitants over 14 days), Benalmádena (112.8), Casares (29.1), Estepona (150.9), Fuengirola (72.4), Istán (66.9), Manilva (146), Marbella (199.8), Mijas (98.4), Ojén (157.2) and Torremolinos (37.6).

This Thursday’s figures in Manilva were encouraging, as the incidence fell below 150.
