Manilva Town Hall has announced a gathering followed by a peaceful march in support of the city of Ceuta, an initiative that will take place on 2 September, coinciding with the celebration of Ceuta Day.
The event, promoted as part of the proposal by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), aims to show the backing and solidarity of Spanish municipalities with Ceuta in light of the situation the city is going through.
The gathering will be held at 20:00 in the Plaza del Donante de Sabinillas, where a gathering will take place first. Afterwards, participants will set off on a peaceful march to calle Virgen de África, a street named after the patron saint of Ceuta.
Manilva Town Hall has encouraged residents to take part in this event, which is intended as a show of unity, coexistence and support for the people of Ceuta, under the slogan «Manilva solidaria».
Meeting with Ceuta natives living in Manilva
The event follows a meeting held by the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, and councillor Marcos Ruiz with residents originally from Ceuta who currently live in the municipality.
During the meeting, these residents told the Town Hall first-hand of their concern about the difficult situation faced by their fellow Ceutans, sharing their worries and the reality they are living through.
The Town Hall wished in this way to highlight the bond between Manilva and the Ceutan residents living in the municipality, reinforcing the message of solidarity with the autonomous city.
An event open to all residents
The event on 2 September is open to all residents who wish to join this show of support.
The gathering will begin at 20:00 in the Plaza del Donante de Sabinillas and, once it has finished, will give way to a march through the streets of the town until it reaches calle Virgen de África.
The Town Hall invites residents to take part in this initiative as a show of solidarity, unity and coexistence with the people of Ceuta.
