Manilva joins national mourning and suspends municipal events

-

Manilva Town Hall has decided to cancel all leisure events and cultural activities scheduled for the coming days as a sign of mourning for the victims of the DANA (severe weather system) that has hit a large part of Spain.

The town’s mayor, José Manuel Fernández, has called his governing team together to announce this decision, arguing that «Manilva must rise to the occasion and show respect to the families who have suffered the consequences of this terrible catastrophe».

Fernández has expressed his solidarity with all those affected by the DANA, especially the residents of the Valencian Community and other areas of the Spanish Levante. «The Town Hall wishes to convey all of its support to those who are going through such a difficult time», he said.

With this measure, Manilva Town Hall joins the many expressions of solidarity taking place across the country in response to the scale of this tragedy.

As a result, the Halloween party that had been organised for this Thursday, 31 October, initially at the Castillo and moved to the Manilva Multi-Purpose Pavilion because of the rain forecast, has been cancelled.
