Manilva breaks all records for postal vote applications

-

The Central Electoral Commission (JEC) authorised the state-owned company Correos to extend until 14:00 today, Friday 21 July, the deadline for depositing postal votes at post offices. Postal voting has broken all records in these elections, with 2,622,808 applications across the whole electorate, as the vote is being held in the middle of summer. The deadline officially ended last night, and post offices were due to stay open until 22:00, outside normal opening hours, to give the 230,000 citizens who had applied to vote by post and had not yet done so time to exercise their right.

In Manilva all records have also been broken for applications to vote by post, with a total of 347, a figure never before reached in our municipality for any election. By area, the number of applications has been very similar in Manilva, the Sabinillas area and the various residential developments.

From the start of this special campaign, Correos management stated that, given the time of year at which it is taking place, with many people away from home because of summer travel and the high temperatures, it would meet its obligations and that all votes submitted would be processed on time and in due form.

At the Sabinillas post office, today has been fairly quiet compared with previous days, when staff did notice an increase in the number of people choosing this option to exercise their rights.
