Málaga successfully weathers the DANA episode: all alerts lifted

-

The province of Málaga has successfully come through the episode of heavy rain caused by the DANA. After two days of alerts and adverse weather forecasts, the State Meteorological Agency has decided to deactivate all warnings for the province.

Although rainfall was not as intense in some municipalities such as Manilva, other areas have suffered considerable damage. The 112 emergency services have dealt with a total of 1,163 incidents related to flooding, rescues on roads and in homes, and pools of water on public roads.

The swift response of the emergency services and the cooperation of residents have been key to minimising damage and avoiding fatalities. Despite criticism from some residents over the activation of the alert protocol and the suspension of classes, the majority of the population has followed the recommendations and acted responsibly.

According to the latest information, normality is very likely to be restored across the province tomorrow, with schools resuming their activities as normal.

From now on, the damage caused by the DANA will be assessed and the measures needed to recover the affected areas will be put in place.
