Jupiter and Venus catch the eye in our skies

-

The conjunction of Jupiter and Venus is attracting the attention of our neighbours, as it can be seen very clearly in the sky, an astronomical phenomenon that has been taking place for the past week. Astronomy lovers can enjoy this celestial spectacle offered by nature: two planets that appear to meet in a nearby spot in the sky and take centre stage, catching the attention of passers-by with their brightness. Looking towards the west, they curiously observe two white points arranged diagonally in parallel and apparently very close to each other.

Today, Thursday 2 March, Venus and Jupiter «will make their closest approach», and from then on they will begin to move apart. This situation «tends to happen from time to time, when they meet in a nearby spot in the sky, with each planet following its own movement across the sky; two and even three can coincide, it happens with some frequency, and right now the planetary conjunction between Venus and Jupiter is taking place», providing a spectacle for all to see. Haven’t you seen it yet? There is still time.
