The Corruco Race has added another edition and continues to grow every year, meeting all the expectations of a well-established sporting event in our town, with the participation of some 600 people of all ages and all levels.
A spectacular route through the streets of Sabinillas, Puerto de la Duquesa and El Castillo, where an outstanding Juan José Durán took the win at the finish line with a total time of 19:11, 31 seconds slower than last year’s edition, in which Javier Díaz Carretero (SAN PEDRO ATLETISMO), who finished third this year, set a time of 18:42 (the record since the race began). In second place, as in last year’s edition, was Cristian Benítez (SAN PEDRO ATLETISMO), who was the only one to withstand Durán’s attacks in the final stretch, but a last sprint just 100 metres from the finish line meant the ISBILYA SLOOPY JOE€™S runner crossed the line alone.
In the women’s race, Sonia Oncala (JIMENA RUNNERS) took the victory with a time of 23:48, followed by Claire Simonnet (MARBELLA DEL SOL), with Tamara Tsiklauri in third place, in a race with a large female turnout of more than a hundred participants.

The mayor of Manilva, Jose Manuel Fernández, and the Sports councillor, Rogelio Pascual, were present throughout, highlighting the excellent atmosphere at this sporting event.
Once again, the race carried the charitable slogan «Hazte donante» (Become a donor), with the traditional banner bearing the slogan «Hazte Donante» unfurled at the start. Once again, Manilva grapes were present at the Corruco, and all participants could enjoy them after crossing the finish line to regain their strength.
Special mention should also be made of the important support provided by the Local Police, Civil Protection and the Obra Social Unicaja, as well as sports organisations such as the Club Ciclista de Manilva, which accompanied the runners and gave warnings along the route, and the Club Senderista los Kruos, which handled the handing out of race numbers and had all its staff deployed at the various junctions along the route.
