The Government Sub-delegate in Málaga, Javier Salas, has highlighted the 64% increase in Guardia Civil staffing in Manilva following its designation as a main post of the force. He also recalled that a further 7 officers will join the team as a summer reinforcement.
Javier Salas visited the Guardia Civil barracks in Manilva this morning, accompanied by the colonel of the Málaga Command, Roberto Blanes, and the mayor of the town, Mario Jiménez.
The Government Sub-delegate thanked the mayor of Manilva for his willingness and help in improving all the projects the Spanish Government has in the town. On this occasion, Javier Salas recalled that «these barracks have been established as a main post, which means a larger staff and the highest level, in order to provide the area with better control and security, given that we are in a tourist area».
«In the last two years», the Government Sub-delegate said, «Manilva has grown, which is why staffing has increased by 64%, the largest increase in any town in terms of members of the State Security Forces and Corps». He also noted that «to strengthen this main post, another 7 officers will arrive this summer».
Javier Salas highlighted the involvement of the municipal government, «which has collaborated in improving the infrastructure for the exit routes and the public reception areas, which will mean greater security».
These security improvements are accompanied by «the Guardia Civil’s Campo de Gibraltar Plan, which pays special attention to the fight against drug trafficking, gangs and organised crime and allows the Costa del Sol to be a safe area despite some isolated incidents, with very high levels of public safety», said the representative of the central government in the province.
The Sub-delegate nevertheless pointed out that «we must keep working so that these levels continue and to strengthen the Guardia Civil’s presence in Manilva».
Finally, Javier Salas again highlighted the collaboration and coordination with the Town Hall to extend the barracks’ facilities and so that «this increase in staff leads to better service for all the citizens and people who need to carry out procedures there».
