The Government Sub-delegate in Málaga, Javier Salas, and the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, have held a new meeting to review the state of public safety in the municipality and discuss the planned improvements to the Guardia Civil Main Post (Puesto Principal).
Following the meeting, both administrations reported the arrival of eight officers as reinforcements for the summer campaign, as well as six personnel who will join the permanent staff from September. The imminent arrival of a new lieutenant at the Manilva barracks was also announced, and the need to improve the barracks’ facilities was once again raised.
However, many of these measures were already announced publicly on 24 June 2025, when Javier Salas visited the barracks accompanied by the colonel of the Málaga Command and the mayor himself. On that occasion, the sub-delegate said that the upgrade of the barracks to a Main Post meant a 64% increase in Guardia Civil staffing, the largest increase recorded in any town in the province, in addition to seven extra officers as reinforcements for the summer season.
During that official visit, held on 24 June 2025, Javier Salas had already said that the barracks’ new status would allow for greater staffing and announced seven officers as reinforcements for the summer season. He also highlighted the Town Hall’s collaboration in improving the facilities and the strategic importance of the municipality within the security arrangements for the Campo de Gibraltar.
The meeting held now serves to update those forecasts with new staff arrivals and to continue monitoring the expansion of the Main Post. According to information released by the Town Hall, the mayor, Mario Jiménez, told the sub-delegate that security remains a priority for the municipality and reiterated his intention to keep demanding more resources from the competent administrations, while the Town Hall will continue to increase the Local Police force.
With these new announcements, the aim is to continue strengthening the Guardia Civil presence in Manilva during the months of greatest population influx and to consolidate the growth in personnel begun after the barracks was upgraded to a Main Post.
