Investment of almost one million euros announced for the remodelling of the Barrio de los Pescadores

The project will renew the water networks, completely reorganise Plaza Costa del Sol and create new parking spaces.

Manilva Town Hall continues to take steps towards the comprehensive remodelling of the Barrio de los Pescadores, in San Luis de Sabinillas, one of the municipality’s most emblematic areas. The mayor, Mario Jiménez, and the Infrastructure and Works councillor, Marcos Ruiz, have met with the engineering firm in charge of drawing up the project, an intervention whose budget will be around one million euros, according to the mayor himself.

The starting point of the works is the renewal of the water supply, sewerage and stormwater networks in the neighbourhood, which will be carried out as part of the improvement plan agreed with Hidralia. As Plaza Costa del Sol has to be dug up to carry out this work, the Town Hall has taken the opportunity to propose a comprehensive reorganisation of the space, with the aim of optimising its layout and giving it a more modern and functional appearance, adapted to the needs of the area.

The planned works also include giving greater prominence to the image of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of fishermen and one of the symbols most deeply rooted among the residents of Sabinillas, as well as the creation of new parking spaces, a long-standing demand in an area where visitor numbers multiply during the summer months.

With this initiative, the Town Hall aims to improve municipal infrastructure and enhance the value of a neighbourhood linked to the municipality’s maritime identity, offering residents and visitors a more accessible, modern and attractive space.
