The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, accompanied by the Manager of Geuma and the municipal architect, visited the Coastal Demarcation Office (Demarcación de Costas) in Málaga to discuss several matters of interest to our municipality.
At the supramunicipal body, he was received by the Head of the Demarcation, Ángel González, and his technical team, in a productive meeting with a good attitude on both sides.
Manilva’s first councillor presented the project for the works planned at El Castillo de la Duquesa to remove the rock breakwater. They also submitted the coastal dynamics, tidal and environmental impact studies, both to the Environment department and to the Coastal Demarcation.
With these documents, the Town Hall scrupulously meets all the requirements asked of it and once again requests the relevant authorisations to definitively resolve a problem that the mayor considers fundamental: «This action is of vital importance for the Castillo area, because we are not talking about altering the environment, or even about something aesthetic. We are talking about the safety of residents and the protection of their homes».
He therefore went on to say: «We will not give up in our efforts, as we have been doing over the years, to get this work carried out so that the residents of the Castillo can rest easy».
Another of the matters discussed was the administrative concession for the Sabinillas promenade, for which the legal report should be available in two weeks, thus continuing the bureaucratic processes necessary for its definitive legalisation.
Finally, González was also told of the need to renew the administrative concession for the beach bars (chiringuitos) for fifteen years and to offer greater peace of mind to the families who run these hospitality businesses along our coastline.
Both the local mayor and the municipal technicians ended the meeting with some optimism given the interest shown in finding a solution to the matters mentioned.
