Green light for new car parks in Sabinillas

-

Manilva Town Hall, following yesterday’s attempt by some users to open the car parks ahead of schedule, today gave the green light to the opening of around 90 parking spaces in Sabinillas, specifically on three privately owned plots of land that have been made available in an effort to find a solution and ease vehicle congestion in San Luis de Sabinillas.

The Town Hall has worked to prepare these plots and has also arranged public liability insurance to guarantee the safety of the users of these car parks.

Opening hours

The opening hours of these new car parks, which will be from 10:00 to 00:00, are being questioned mainly by residents and some shopkeepers. No vehicle will be allowed to stay overnight in these areas during closing time, so users must leave the car parks before midnight. The Town Hall warns that any vehicle that breaches this rule will be fined.

Fee yet to be determined

The notable aspect of this measure is that the car parks will be run and supervised by 2 university students with no official fee being set, which means that payment for their use will be at the users’ discretion, and according to information provided by the Town Hall, the money will go towards covering the costs of their education.

The initial idea announced was that an association would take charge of running them, but given the lack of interest from such groups, it has been decided, without a prior award procedure, that these 2 students, who have volunteered to carry out these tasks, will do so.

These new parking spaces are expected to help ease traffic pressure on the surrounding streets and make parking in Sabinillas easier.
