On 30 December, Manilva will be dressed in solidarity as it holds the Seventh San Silvestre Solidaria, a Christmas initiative that has become a tradition eagerly awaited by all residents. Organised by the Sports department, this non-competitive race once again has the collaboration of the Club Senderista Los Kruos de Manilva.
Rogelio Pascual, Sports councillor, has stressed that the race is open to all residents, regardless of age. Registration is simple: each participant must hand in 1 kilogram of non-perishable food, such as milk, juice, sugar, tinned goods, flour, oil or baby food, among other items. This food can be handed in at the Sports office, located next to the football pitch, from 26 to 29 December and also on the day of the event, outside Manilva Town Hall on calle Mar, from 10:30.
When handing in the food, participants will receive their race bib and will automatically be entered into the draw for numerous prizes, which will be raffled at the end of the route. The route covers 1.6 kilometres, taking participants through the picturesque streets of the centre of Manilva. The starting signal is scheduled for 12:00.
The collaboration of local businesses and organisations is essential to the success of this charity initiative. Every year, they generously contribute by donating prizes that are drawn among the participants. In addition, all runners are encouraged to come dressed in Christmas outfits, creating a festive and cheerful atmosphere.
After the prize draws, the band Olivetti will perform to liven up the day.
