From narco boats to one of the most luxurious yachts in the world

-

If last week Manilva was at the centre of the news because of the appearance of more than 10 narco boats moored along our coastline, today, Friday, the spotlight falls on one of the most expensive luxury yachts and largest in the world, which we can all see sailing past the beaches of the area, with its 105 metres in length and a design that is both imposing and luxurious: the Lady Moura.

The vessel belongs to Ricardo Salinas Pliego , the Mexican billionaire who owns Grupo Salinas, in which his six children are also actively involved –one of them, Ninfa Salinas, is a former Mexican senator–. The business magnate has spared no detail, and bought the yacht from the Saudi Al-Rashid in 2021 for 125 million dollars. It is one of the most expensive vessels in the world, as it is rumoured to have cost more than 200 million dollars.

The Lady Moura was built in 1990 by the , becoming at that time the ninth largest private yacht in the world (it now ranks 48th). On its latest visit to Marbella, the vessel used the new megayacht port, Igy Marina Málaga . The infrastructure was launched by Ocean Capital Partners, with Igy Marinas at the helm. An investment of 11 million euros was required, a tiny figure considering the economic impact estimated for the city: 100 million euros a year.

Aside from the value of this mega yacht, the businessman certainly makes plenty of use of the vessel. During the summer season it has been seen in the south of France , in Antibes, also in Palma de Mallorca and in Monaco, and in recent days the vessel has been cruising past the port of Málaga. It can accommodate a crew of 71 and 27 guests, and has a helipad , a gym, a cinema room and a nightclub.

Luxury and speed

Both the hull and the structure of the Lady Moura are made of steel . With two Deutz diesel engines –each with a power output of 6,868 horsepower – and controllable-pitch propellers, the yacht can sail at a speed of 22 knots, with a cruising speed of 14.

Luxury is present in every detail of the vessel. Both the name and the crest, which can be seen on the port side, the starboard side and the stern, are carved in 24-carat gold . Ostentatious for some and undoubtedly necessary for others, comfort is guaranteed on one of the most luxurious yachts on the planet.
