A 30-year-old man has died after being stabbed on the road, despite the rapid intervention of the health services. The perpetrator has already been arrested and will be brought before a judge.
A violent incident shook the municipality of Manilva this morning after a man was stabbed on the road linking Manilva with Sabinillas. The events, the circumstances of which are still under investigation, took place at a point on that road, forcing it to be closed to all traffic for several hours.
According to initial enquiries, the victim, aged around 30 and with several previous convictions for theft, tried to rob the perpetrator of the stabbing, a homeless man who used to stand outside the town’s supermarkets begging. He lived in an abandoned house in the Las Higueras housing development, where this week the Town Hall stepped in to prohibit access to the site due to the risk of several of the buildings collapsing.
According to sources consulted, one individual attacked another with a bladed weapon, inflicting a fatal wound. After the alert was received, the 061 emergency services rushed to the scene. However, despite their efforts to revive him, they could do nothing to save his life. He had a serious wound caused by a knife that went through him, leading to death almost immediately.
The Guardia Civil has taken charge of the investigation, gathering evidence and testimonies to clarify what happened. Initial enquiries have led to the arrest of the alleged perpetrator of the stabbing, who will be brought before a judge.
The closure of the road from Manilva to Sabinillas has caused uncertainty among residents, while Guardia Civil officers carried out the necessary procedures and removed the body.
The authorities have not so far released the identity of the victim or of the person arrested.
