Detainees in Mike's case granted provisional release

-

Estepona Examining Court number 1 yesterday, Wednesday, granted provisional release to three people from Ceuta who were reported by an English national for an offence of causing injuries, which occurred during a fight that took place when he accused them of occupying his home.

This British citizen has not yet appeared before the court investigating the case, as he is outside Spain, specifically in the city of Liverpool.

For their part, the three people from Ceuta, who appeared while at liberty, in turn filed a complaint against the Englishman, whom they accused of having burst into their home, which they were renting, brandishing a weapon, breaking windows and assaulting them while they were inside.

After giving statements, neither party requested that they be remanded in custody. For the moment, this case is being investigated as injuries caused by both sides to each other.

The Englishman’s statement, as both complainant and accused, is still pending.

Separately, as a result of the police investigation launched following this incident, three other people who were in a neighbouring property were arrested. These three detainees were brought today, Thursday, before Estepona Examining Court number 2, which is on duty. After giving statements, the three detainees were released provisionally, under investigation for the alleged offences of handling stolen goods, drug trafficking and fraudulent use of electricity.

The investigation will determine in the coming days whether they were illegally occupying the property in which they were living. It will also be decided in the coming days whether the two incidents will be handled by court number 1 or split into two separate proceedings.
