Daniel Muñoz, until now number 4 on the Compromiso Manilva list, today submitted a document through the Town Hall’s registry office to begin the legal procedures required to resign his seat as an opposition councillor on Manilva’s council.
In his resignation he cites personal reasons. However, kindly responding to a call from this newsroom, he admitted that he needs to «put order» into his professional life, to bring back the joy and the desire to do things in the field of teaching, describing himself as a very restless person.
On his social media, Daniel has posted:
«This morning, after telling my colleagues and the Mayor, I have submitted my resignation from my seat as councillor for personal reasons, as well as returning to my job at the Escuela Municipal de Música, Danza y Teatro.
First of all, I would like to thank Mario Jiménez for counting on me and trusting me at all times, my colleagues at Compromiso Manilva for their help, their support and for understanding this decision… and each and every one of the voters who trusted us and, in particular, me.
During my time in office, I tried to do what I believed was best at every moment for our town… if I have made any mistakes… I am sorry.
Now I will devote myself fully to the great passion of my life, music 🎼 🎵, which I share with my children’s football team ⚽
I wish the very best of luck to my colleague and friend Laura Salazar, who will take the seat I have left. Best of luck, I am sure you will be an excellent councillor!!💪🏻💪🏻
And finally, I invite my colleagues on the town council to keep working for the present and future of Manilva. You have a great ship in your hands, and with everyone’s work and by rowing together in the same direction, we must put our town in the place it deserves.
Without further ado, thank you very much to everyone for these years and for understanding my decision.»
We recall that Muñoz had to live through one of the bitterest periods our history has seen, both in education and in festivals; at the head of these two departments, he had to manage the COVID pandemic, during which he did extraordinary work, shoulder to shoulder with healthcare workers and schools.
The festivals department was his big bet to change things in the municipality and to innovate with ideas and a different point of view, but unfortunately for his aspirations, COVID also put him out of action, as many of them could not be held.
Daniel Muñoz’s resignation, which is expected to take effect at the next council meeting of the Town Hall, makes way for number 5 on the Compromiso list, Laura Salazar, who holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education and English language. She will have to be sworn in to take up the seat as councillor and continue scrutinising the actions of the local government from the opposition.
