Compromiso open to striking deals with different political parties

-

The acting mayor of Manilva and leader of Compromiso Manilva, Mario Jiménez, together with colleagues from the party, collected their credentials as councillors-elect from the Zone Electoral Board this morning and presented them at the Town Hall.

Compromiso Manilva will have five councillors this term, after becoming the most-voted party in the recent municipal elections with 1,613 votes, almost 300 votes ahead of the second-placed party.

The five councillors-elect are: Mario Jiménez, Marcos Ruiz, Pilar Zúñiga, Daniel Muñoz and Eva Galindo; in addition to a representative on the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol (Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental), which will be key when forming the government of the supra-municipal body.

During the past week, the leader of Compromiso Manilva, Mario Jiménez, and the members of the negotiating committee have held meetings with the various political forces that won institutional representation on 28 May, to discuss possible governing agreements. «After these first meetings it is clear to us that we will make pacts with those parties whose election manifesto is similar to the one we presented during the election campaign. A pact in which the interests of the residents of the municipality prevail, and which allows us to continue the institutional and government stability of recent years.»

Mario Jiménez reiterated his thanks for the support and backing of the people of Manilva on 28 May. «We are the most-voted force and that is why we are going to lead a municipal government. This week we will finalise the governing agreements and, from 17 June, we will be able to continue consolidating our project and the one the people of Manilva have chosen,» he concluded.
