The Municipal Group of Compromiso Manilva has this Friday condemned a policy of «institutional disloyalty» by the current governing team when it comes to inviting opposition councillors to some of the events it organises, specifically the Sports gala being held today in Manilva.
Compromiso Manilva regrets «that members of the governing team are more concerned with appearing in photos than with governing, and are trying to hide the opposition councillors».
«These are events organised with the money of all the citizens of Manilva, a share of whom we represent. With this kind of behaviour they show degrading treatment of the opposition,» it stressed.
Compromiso Manilva reminds Mr Fernández’s governing team that «what we want is to be present as representatives of the residents of Manilva, we are not looking for a photo. We remind him that we are the largest group in the council meeting because it is the one that received the most votes in the last elections, and we won the elections, even though we now find ourselves in opposition».
The Compromiso Manilva municipal group stressed that «we deserve to be treated with the same respect as the groups in government, and not to be ignored, using practices from black-and-white times of the past».
«A few days ago was the gala of the Manilva football club and we attended the event, but we were barred from presenting some of the awards, one more practice of censorship».
«We do not know what Mr Fernández hopes to achieve by not inviting the political parties with municipal representation to the events organised by the Town Hall, but we demand that he stop acting as if the Town Hall belonged to him», they insist.
Finally, Compromiso Manilva apologises to the sportspeople and clubs receiving awards «because we will not be able to join them on such an important day for them, but we do publicly congratulate the award winners in this new edition»
