Compromiso denounces campaign of insults and hoaxes on social media

-

Just hours after Mario Jiménez took over as mayor of Manilva, Compromiso Manilva has issued a statement denouncing a campaign of «disqualifications, insults and hoaxes» aimed at the new mayor and his team. The municipalist party has announced that it has placed the matter in the hands of its legal advisers and the Local Police, and that it will take legal action against those responsible.

According to the statement, the attacks come from «fake profiles» and «cowardly people» who, hiding behind anonymity, spread false information and offensive comments. Compromiso Manilva stressed that «not everything goes in politics» and that it will not tolerate this kind of behaviour.

«We have placed these insulting comments in the hands of our legal advisers, not only those posted on our social media, but we will also report those comments that are disrespectful on other social media profiles and on press blogs. NOT EVERYTHING GOES», the statement reads.

In addition, the party has said that it has requested the intervention of the Local Police and has blocked the profiles responsible for the insults and slander.

Compromiso Manilva has expressed its respect for freedom of opinion, but has urged the public to show respect towards the new governing team. «We understand that some people have not taken it very well that Mario Jiménez, who won the elections in 2023, is legitimately returning to the mayor’s office, but we only ask for respect and that they let the new municipal governing team work», the statement concludes.

The complaint from Compromiso Manilva highlights the political tension in the town following the vote of no confidence that has brought Mario Jiménez to the mayor’s office.
