Compromiso criticises the urban saturation that El Hacho will experience

-

The spokesman for Compromiso Manilva, Mario Jiménez, has criticised the fact that the second meeting of the Municipal Urban Planning Management board, chaired by the mayor of Manilva, José Manuel Fernández, and the first led by the convicted and disqualified Aitor Menoyo, has served to «punish urbanistically» an area such as El Hacho, so that «this residential area of the municipality suffers greater deterioration and saturation due to the construction of new homes».

Jiménez’s statement comes after a series of agreements were approved at this meeting that favour one of the preferred developers of the convicted manager and of the group of non-affiliated councillors.

«The first outrage approved at this meeting was to give the go-ahead for the construction of a new hotel on the same site as the hotel at La Duquesa golf course. We all know that in that building there are two owners: one who owns the hotel bedroom area, and a second who has the clubhouse and the restaurant and services area. Well, they have authorised the construction of new rooms in those communal areas.»

«In this way the mayor and his urban planning team favour the interest of one of the owners, condemning the current owner of the hotel to never being able to open it. In this way, instead of ensuring that the current hotel is opened, another hotel is going to be authorised for the personal interests of Mr Fernández and his Urban Planning manager.»

A management board meeting which also gave the green light to a project of more than 100 homes in El Hacho, «an area that is quite saturated with housing, where the infrastructure is deteriorating, and they approve a project without any guarantee that, for example, the roads and the damage that will be caused in the streets by the passage of machinery can be repaired».

«The mayor can demand guarantees so that this area of the municipality does not deteriorate further, rather than seeking to favour the developer friends of his urban planning manager», asks Mario Jiménez.

The spokesman for Compromiso Manilva pointed out that «at the same time, this meeting approved the legalisation of homes in this area that have broken sewerage, increasing the problem of discharges».

«All these outrages permitted by Mr Fernández and his convicted manager will deteriorate this area of the municipality even further. As the municipal reports show, it is not advisable to continue building in El Hacho, but the mayor does not care, as long as he stays in the mayor’s office at the cost of pressure from his non-affiliated councillors», states Mario Jiménez.

«It is clear that this mayor’s approach is to favour some developers and harm others, without caring whether the project is good or not for the residents of Manilva. Something he has learned from his mentor in Estepona», concludes Jiménez.
