The acting mayor of Manilva and Compromiso candidate, Mario Jiménez, and the leader of the PSOE in Manilva, Diego José Jiménez, have reached an initial agreement on the investiture and government of Manilva Town Hall for the next four years.
The decision is pending ratification by the local assemblies and comes after each leader held contacts with the various political groups that gained institutional representation following the municipal elections of 28 May.
The parties will continue working on the agreement, which seeks «a progressive pact for the municipality, so as to continue the institutional and government stability of recent years», both parties said.
Following the result of the municipal elections, «it is clear that the people of Manilva have voted for a progressive majority, so we encourage the other parties to reach agreements on policy and to join this major governing agreement», both parties added.
Both Mario Jiménez and Diego José Jiménez said that «the combined strength of parties and councillors is necessary to guarantee stability and good government at our Town Hall and in our town, so that together we can consolidate a project that will be good for our residents», they stated.
Mario Jiménez has publicly thanked the PSOE leader, Diego José Jiménez, and his party for their willingness to engage in dialogue and to reach a governing agreement: «I am grateful for their broad-mindedness and their attitude in formalising this agreement, always with the best interests of our town in mind».
For his part, Diego José Jiménez highlighted the common ground between the two parties, both in their programmes and in their way of working, and announced that «we will always put the general interest of the municipality above party or personal interests».
