Compromiso and PSOE call an extraordinary council meeting

-

The municipal spokesperson for Compromiso Manilva, Mario Jiménez, and the municipal spokesperson for the PSOE, Diego José Jiménez, have submitted to the General Registry of Manilva Town Hall the request to convene an extraordinary council meeting «so that issues of interest to the municipality can be discussed, given the paralysis and self-promoting government of the mayor and his team of misgovernment», said Mario Jiménez.

At this council meeting, they are asking for the discussion of, among other matters, greater transparency in the information provided by the Town Hall, and access to municipal documentation and all public files for the municipal spokespersons.

«The council meetings called by the governing team are devoid of content. Most of the items are proposals brought by the opposition groups. They are not capable of getting projects off the ground that we left ready, such as the adaptation of the premises in the Puerta del Mar building, or the construction of a new well for the water supply, which is badly needed. Or the restructuring of the Casa de la Cultura. They are not capable of anything.»

In this extraordinary meeting, the two political groups are also asking for a grant to be processed for Manilva’s primary sector, as well as expressing their support for the municipality’s farming, fishing and livestock industries.

Another of the items proposed is the awarding of two taxi licences and the request for three new licences and their award.

Regarding the media, they are calling for the creation of a monitoring committee and for the space in the municipal media to be shared equally among all the municipal groups.

The plusvalía tax also appears on the agenda of this extraordinary council meeting, which includes the amendment of the tax ordinance regulating the tax on the increase in value of urban land.

The mayor’s level of dedication is another of the matters requested. To that end, they will ask for a review of the current arrangement under which he serves as mayor of Manilva, in accordance with the Municipal Organic Regulations.

«There is paralysis in the running of the Town Hall. Not only are the council meetings devoid of content, but the Municipal Urban Planning Management Office barely takes any matters to its board», said Mario Jiménez.

The spokesperson for Compromiso Manilva said that «Manilva Town Hall has become a branch of Estepona Town Hall, where Mr Fernández spends more time with his tutor than running the municipality of Manilva».

Finally, the CM and PSOE municipal groups are asking for the entry into force of the new rubbish collection charge to be delayed as long as the law allows, and for it to be offset by a reduction in the IBI (property tax) for 2025.

The two municipal groups, Compromiso Manilva and the PSOE, are asking for this agenda to be included in the next extraordinary council meeting, to be held under article 46 of Law 7/85 of 2 April, regulating the basis of local government.
