Following criticism from Compromiso Manilva of the current mayor Jose Manuel Fernández for not having refurbished the sports area of the fairground, a month after the fair ended, the Town Hall press office responded, arguing that the reason the baskets, goals, nets and other sports equipment had not been reinstalled was that there was an agreement signed by the previous mayor Mario Jiménez with Casares Town Hall under which this area was handed over to be used as a car park for the SOHEIM CUP.
According to Fernández, the cost of installing and dismantling the equipment comes to 20,000 euros, covering transport, workers, a technical report, cleaning, painting and repair of damage caused by use during the fair, and for that reason he decided not to incur the expense twice, since if the equipment were installed it would have to be removed again for the sports event and then put back afterwards to return to normal.
The reality appears to conceal a half-truth, since, as Compromiso Manilva again states, the agreement covers only the car park area and not the sports areas, which therefore would not need to be dismantled again.
