The Guardia Civil is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found at the Complejo Ambiental Costa del Sol, in the Málaga municipality of Casares, a facility where household waste from several municipalities in the area, including Manilva, is taken and processed.
The body was found early in the morning, at around 8:45 on Wednesday 11 March, when workers at the treatment plant raised the alarm after discovering it on the landfill’s conveyor belt.
The people who found the body called the 112 emergency service, which sent Guardia Civil officers and medical services to the scene.
The body was found specifically in the area of the conveyor belt where waste is sorted for treatment and recycling.
The employees stopped the belt immediately so as not to destroy possible evidence and alerted the Guardia Civil, which is now investigating the circumstances of the death. In addition, 112 has reported that, according to 061, the deceased is a man of around 50 years of age, although no further details have emerged so far about the cause of death or any injuries he may have.
