Andalusian regional government shuts down SAS websites over PHP-related security alert

-

The platform remains out of service while technicians work to protect the systems against possible vulnerabilities. For the time being, the incident does not affect access to medical appointments through ClickSalud+ and Salud Responde.

The Junta de Andalucía has taken the website of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) https://www.sspa.juntadeandalucia.es/servicioandaluzdesalud/ out of service following a security alert related to the PHP programming language, which is used in numerous digital systems and platforms.

According to information published on Friday 23 October by Andalusian media, the decision was reportedly taken as a precaution, given the risk that certain vulnerabilities could facilitate possible cyberattacks.

The regional administration is working to protect both platforms, which remain inaccessible while technicians review the systems and take the necessary measures to guarantee their security. For the moment, no specific date has been given for the service to be restored.

Which services are affected

The outage prevents users from viewing the usual content of the SAS and SAE websites, including their information sections, organisation charts and publications relating to the activity of both bodies. In the case of the Andalusian Employment Service, the situation appears to have been gradually recovering during the afternoon.

The measure is a preventive security action. Based on the information published so far, it cannot be stated that the platforms have suffered an actual cyberattack or that there has been a data leak.

Medical appointments remain available

The websites being down does not mean that all digital health services have been halted. Users can continue to use other tools, such as ClickSalud+ and Salud Responde, to carry out health-related procedures and access the services that remain operational.

This alternative is particularly relevant for patients who need to consult health information or manage their appointments while the incident continues.

The Junta is keeping the affected platforms out of service until it considers that they meet the security conditions required to become available again. For now, users will have to turn to the alternative channels provided and wait for the restoration of the websites to be announced.

The incident once again highlights the importance of keeping the IT systems of public administrations updated and protected, especially those that provide essential services to the public.
