The new urban planning manager at Manilva Town Hall, appointed by mayoral decree on 21 August, has not lasted long in the post. On Wednesday, Mr Aitor Menoyo tendered his resignation for personal reasons.
All the indications are that the political pressure surrounding the items approved at the latest urban planning board meeting, already under his management, could have disrupted the work being carried out by the department. With Aitor at its head, the opposition was going to focus its criticism on him personally, so Menoyo has preferred to step back and continue in his job as legal adviser at the same Town Hall, duties he has been carrying out since 2008.
We recall that Compromiso Manilva, the party currently in opposition, already condemned his appointment on 22 September, seeing the move «as a partisan choice, since it must be remembered that Mr Aitor Menoyo is an active member of the group of non-affiliated councillors, not to mention that he currently has several legal proceedings open, in some of which he has already been convicted. Menoyo is no example of anything, least of all transparency, management, impartiality and the fight against corruption. We are returning to the dark era of Manilva, where with Mr Menoyo hidden interests are flourishing once again and the Urban Planning department is being run at his whim».
Yesterday, this same party published on its social media: «These hundred days have served to show the roadmap and the tone of Mr Fernández in this term of office, «the first decisions have reflected the idea that the mayor and his governing team have of Manilva Town Hall, one of them being the scandalous hiring and appointment by direct selection, without any selection procedure, of 😡Aitor Menoyo as Urban Planning manager, a person convicted in 2022 as the party responsible for an offence of administrative malfeasance.»
With this resignation, an end is put to one of the main targets on which the leading opposition party appeared to be focusing, the only one that had spoken out publicly up to now about this appointment.
