Puerto de la Duquesa has once again received the Blue Flag award. This accolade, which recognises the quality of services and facilities, was presented today at an official ceremony in Islantilla, Huelva. Andalusia secured a total of 148 awards, including two in our municipality: the previously reported one for Playa de Sabinillas and this one for Puerto de la Duquesa.
Rafael Aznar, managing director of D-Marin España, attended on behalf of D-Marin, the company that manages these facilities. The meeting was attended by the Andalusian regional government’s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport, Arturo Bernal, accompanied by the president of the Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor (ADEAC), José Palacios.
The Blue Flag record of D-Marin’s marinas speaks for itself. This summer Marina del Este will fly this quality award for the twenty-ninth consecutive year, while the marinas at La Duquesa and Estepona have now flown the award at their respective ports for 26 years.
Rafael Aznar expressed his satisfaction at receiving these awards once again, stating: “They are not only recognition that we have met certain requirements, in this case environmental ones. They are also the result of doing things well, with planning sustained over time, in terms of the care and maintenance of our facilities and the quality of our customer service.”
This award has been granted for more than 30 years by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and the Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor (Adeac) in recognition of environmental quality. It is awarded following an exhaustive assessment by ADEAC technicians of safety conditions at the facilities, environmental and water quality, sustainable management, services offered to users, social integration, and the educational and training work of each port.
The province of Málaga has been awarded 39 Blue Flags for beaches and 6 for marinas.
